The Dean for Medical Education announced the Teaching Faculty Experience as a priority in 2024. This work is focused on improving the teaching environment, sense of community, professional development, and level of support and recognition for faculty involved in medical student education. The Task Force on Teaching Faculty Experience will be convened and chaired by Tamara Kaplan, MD. The HMS Academy will be reinvigorated as a primary center for community building and professional development among our teaching faculty.
As a priority for 2024, a major area of curricular focus will be to integrate generative artificial intelligence (AI) safely and effectively into all aspects of our MD educational program. The Steering Group on Generative AI in the HMS MD Curriculum chaired by Adam Rodman, MD, will address related issues so we can ensure that our medical students and teaching faculty are supported in their use of AI as an educational tool, and we also need to prepare our students to be effective AI-enabled clinical physicians of the future.
